SHORT DESCRIPTION

This 400㎡ residence embraces serenity, natural light, and the poetic dialogue between space and life. Rather than pursuing material luxury, the design emphasizes quiet refinement and a deeply humanistic living environment. At the heart of the home is a sunken courtyard, where daylight cascades through a glass roof and flows across aged wood and dark surfaces. The space transforms fluidly: a tea room for solitude, a lounge for gatherings, or a home theater by night. Black wood finishes provide vertical strength and structure, while warm timber tones soften the atmosphere, balancing strength with calm. Objects such as treasured aged timber, a cello, and ink paintings by the daughter embody the poetic details of daily life. Morning rituals define the home’s rhythm. Efficient circulation and storage solutions are applied. Mirrored walls and glass blocks on the ground floor expand visual space, while custom built-in cabinets provide storage and elongated windows frame outdoor views, enhancing the living experience. Storage does not conceal life, but allows objects to maintain a proper distance with nature and people, extending a harmonious relationship between humans and the natural world. The design reflects a shift from fast-paced city life to a slower, more reflective lifestyle. Here, space no longer dictates function; instead, life itself shapes the home. Whether in solitude or with family and friends, the residence offers flexibility, emotional comfort, and well-being. It becomes not only a place to live, but also a mirror of the soul—where light, shadow, and time compose a serene and sustainable sanctuary.
