SHORT DESCRIPTION
Piscina con Casa explores the possibilities of reimagining the relationship between water and the act of inhabiting. In this project, the house emerges from the water to create spaces that invite the inhabitant into a physical and sensory immersion. The proposal is understood as a tool for architectural research that comes to life through daily interaction and the user’s experience with a medium as fluid and symbolic as water. It encourages reflection on the role of design in creating meaningful and transcendent environments for people. The project proposes two complementary sequences. The experience of emerging begins underwater and ascends through the spaces of the house, where each room engages with the pool in a specific way. Various openings reveal glimpses of flooded patios and submerged skylights. Semi-sunken living areas, water-level windows, and exterior platforms shape a new topography of varying heights, offering unique relationships with both the water and the surrounding landscape. This path culminates in a raised lookout over the central flooded courtyard. The experience of submerging enables a direct connection with water. A shallow platform invites walking or resting, while a sloped zone allows the user to wade or submerge into the deeper areas of the pool, where one can swim, dive from the lookout, or contemplate the house through underwater windows. This layering of elements creates a rich and dynamic atmosphere, where the interplay of water, light, and architecture shifts throughout the day. The project also explores the intimate bond between its inhabitants and their environment, using water as a medium to enhance personal experience. By transforming the conventional domestic space into a personal retreat, water becomes a central element of daily life, prioritizing emotional and sensory connection, blurring the limits between inside and outside, and reconnecting with ancestral notions of inhabiting.
