Paloma Baquero Masats&Juan Antonio Serrano García

SERRANO + BAQUERO Arquitectos

Juan Antonio Serrano García and Paloma Baquero Masats are architects who graduated from the University of Granada in 2009 and hold a Master's degree in Advanced Architectural Projects from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, obtained in 2012. We founded the architecture studio Serrano+Baquero in 2010, from which we develop projects of various scales with a strong focus on landscape, materiality, and experience—integrating practice, research, and teaching. We both teach architectural design at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Granada and are involved in research groups such as the I+D+I project of the CEI BioTic at the University of Granada, as well as the Alhambra Trust for Heritage and Cultural Landscape and the UGR’s “Azucarera de San Isidro” project, which focuses on the restoration of a Cultural Heritage Site for the development of a sustainable city model. Our work has been recognized with awards such as the FAD Awards, Arquia Próxima, Enor, AIT Awards, World Architecture Award, Consejo Superior de Arquitectos de España, Bienal Española de Arquitectura, Bienal Internacional de Paisaje and Bienal Iberoamericana de Arquitectura. We have also received first prizes in Europan XI (Lanzarote and Leeuwarden), as well as in other national and international competitions, and our projects have been featured in publications such as Arquitectura Viva, AV Proyectos, Pasajes, On Diseño, 2A, Detail, and AIT, and have been exhibited in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, and Italy. We have also given lectures at institutions including the ETSAG, the Ministry of Housing, the Polytechnic University of Milan, and Texas Tech University.
